Fatip Lo Storto Chrome Double Edge Slant Bar Safety Razor (Testina Originale)

In 2020 Fatip introduced the Slant line which they call the Storto which is loosely translated as "Crooked" or "Slanted".  These are available in both Open Comb (Testina Originale) and Closed Comb Safety Bar (Testina Gentile) models.  The Open Comb version is more aggressive and well suited to heavier beard growth.

Fatip, the Italian razors with the original brass head, are handmade in Premana, district overlooking the lake Como, well known thanks to the expertise and skilled production of metals.  The well-balanced design perfectly ensures a refined, precise shaving experience.

This model has a chrome plating and is a 3 Piece Slant razor with an OPEN COMB (Testina Originale) making it an aggressive, efficient shaving razor.

Handmade in Premana, Italy.

Must Always Check Blade Reveal

The Fatip Lo Storto Open Comb, or Fatip Open Comb Slant (FOCS) is a very nice safety razor that will last and can give you a great shave if you are careful. I prefer the Fatip Closed Comb Slant (FCCS) as I prefer a milder razor head (I shave everyday). Both the FOCS and FCCS are equally efficient at cutting/slicing beard hair, but the FOCS is more aggressive and can cut through a full beard without getting clogged like the FCCS will, but you are less likely to give yourself a nick or razor burn with the FCCS than the FOCS. On both my FOCS and FCCS, I can only get the blade reveal perfect on one side of the safety razor, so I have to take note of that and only use that one side while shaving. Getting this blade reveal perfect is important for achieving a close comfortable shave. While the blade reveal issue may be due to poor quality control, I agonize over blade reveal anyways so it's not a major draw-back for me. Just take note of which edge you used then next time you load the same razor perfectly align the other edge. Securing a used razor with a magnet on the top of your bathroom mirror might be helpful here, that's what I do.

Fatip Lo Storto Open Comb

5 stars. I am a 62 year old DE shaver. My beard is not particularly heavy nor is my skin particularly sensitive. I am using Rapira/ Voskhod blades and Cremo/ Van Der Hagen soaps. This razors fit , finish and blade line up are excellent. One pass with a second light touch up and I'm BBS. Closer and more comfortable than my trusted Merkur 37C. The Fatip Lo Storto is my new go to razor.

Great Intro to a Slant Bar

I have never owned a Slant Bar Razor to this point, and seeing Geo introduce and perform a shave with this model, I figured this was the time to get one in my shaving collection.

I completed a first shave with it, and it's a very good razor overall. Great feel on the face with the glide(I don't know if I would say it's comparable to the R41 though, but everyone is different). It got me a BBS shave in three passes with no nicks or weepers(a bit of irritation says the Shave Nation Alum Stick, but otherwise nice and close). Glad I made this purchase to a Slant Bar Razor today.

Thank you, Geo!

I have a new favorite!

This is a very nice razor that is not as aggressive as the Muhle R41. I would call it more of an efficient shaver rather than aggressive. I used with a Feather blade (4th use) and got a VERY pleasant shave. I could have been done with a 2-pass shave but, went for the 3-pass because it was such a pleasant shave!

Geo, you find the best products. I will try it again tomorrow with an Astra blade. I bet this razor will be good with many of my other average blades to.

YMMV but, I have found a new favorite! Don't be intimidated by the slant-bar. This razor is milder than my Parker Semi-slant. Very smooth shave to be had with this one!
