Good brush

I’ve been using this brush in my rotation for about four months. This is my first best badger brush, my other badgers are pure badger. I love the soft tips! It makes a good lather and is not a lather hog. The size is big enough to do my whole head efficiently but small enough on my face around the mustache. It is a little light on the backbone so it’s not a great scrubber but it is a great painter. Overall I like the brush just fine.

Underrated shaving brush that does the job and then some.

The Simpsons 57 Brush in Best Badger is somewhat overlooked. Not sure why that is because it's got a terrific handle and nice balance. I use the 57 for face lathering with firm croaps and it has no problem creating wonderful lather for several passes. I have several Simpsons brushes including the Classic 2 and Commodore X2, and I have happily added the 57 to my lineup. It's a little bigger than the others, but still a medium sized brush. The feel is terrific overall, and I wold recommend it to anyone who wants a first-rate brush for their wet shaving routine.

As the saying goes, "You get what you pay for"

Here's the bottom line: Anyone who thinks that a good quality brush doesn't have that big of an impact on the quality of their shave is greatly mistaken. About 8 years ago I made the switch from shaving with a twin-blade disposable razor and regular body soap to work up a lather to a quality safety razor and quality cream. I used a pure badger brush purchased at the local Art of Shaving. I liked it but something always seemed to be missing. It was wearing out (and I took care of it) and decided to get a nice quality brush, hence the Simpson 57 best badger. What a game changer!! The very dense knot works up a great lather and I'm now using less of my Taylor's of Old Bond Street cream that I was with the other brush; which didn't come close to the density and softness of this Simpson. I have big mitts and the overall size and comfort of the handle works perfect for me. This is a great quality brush and I have no doubt it will serve me well for many, many years. Absolutely worth every penny! Like they say, you get what you pay for.
